Indian students reluctant to pursue doctorate, BPO may act as cure

India is not producing enough research and doctorate level students. The trend there is, college pass outs promptly jump into BPO bandwagon (or other emerging sectors like retail, aviation, hospitality etc) to earn some quick cash. That’s a reason of concern. The country may face serious talent dearth in the coming years. The good news is that, as the BPO industry maturing to the next level (knowledge process, legal, research and development, biotechnology. medical etc.) outsourcing giants like General Electric, IBM, HP are looking out for doctorate level talents.

While inaugurating the ‘Researchers' Meet’ at Dr. MGR University, Maduravoyal, in India, consultant advisor of TCS Ltd. C.R. Muthukrishnan urged research students to get their reports published in journals and specialty magazines and take the course seriously.     

The morale of the story is, motivation for Indian youths lead to outsourcing assignments only. It seems no one’s ready to take up professorship in Indian universities.
