Joern Wettern, a technology consultant while working on some projects for Microsoft which involved Exchange Hosted Service realized that outsourced services can be a great solution for infrastructure tasks.
He suggests that while zeroing on areas for outsourcing one should examine characteristics like whether performing of the task will yield some strategic advantage or not over competition, and in secondly, in case of high availability whether the service is more reliable than the in-house solution or not.
