UK based telecom and networking major Cable & Wireless (C&W) plans to outsource around 2,000-2,500 non-core jobs to India worth $70-100 million. All the prominent outsourcing and BPO companies applied for the bid but it seems TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) and Wipro are ahead in the race. The rumor is that there are other two major companies are also in the race. Seems C&W is in a real hurry to commence the project, and it may start as early as last week of December or early January.
So, the company with most strong reserve bench may have an edge here amongst other things. TCS also adds value to the project by roping in Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL), India's biggest telecommunications and internet service provider. It will give required bandwidth required for the project.
