Home Depot Inc. which has been operating large-scale outsourcing business from mainland China (with a network of more than 500 suppliers) will make much anticipated move (after two years of meticulous market strategy and planning) to enter into Chinese home improvement market this week and is paying out $100 million for a majority stake in HomeWay. Already its 10% of product arrives from China. A dog-eat-dog fight is on the offing in the country, as Home Depot will take on Kingfisher, the UK rival directly in the dragon country. Kingfisher has been operating since 1996 and has more than 50 fully functional stores.
Only future will tell how much edge Home Depot will yield from 10-year-old HomeWay which only runs 14 Do-It-Yourself stores in Northern China.
