The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the last moment has altered its plan to outsource $103 million contract for the management of paper tax returns, which includes functions like filing, storage and retrieval activities. Washington Post reports outsourcing contract to seven vendors was put on hold. In its official statement IRS said it wants all the employees with required training and security clearances are put in place so that they can better manage the files in the upcoming filing season.
Or, may be IRS wants to play safe this time since it has hotchpotch record of maintaining big outsourcing project not in the exact professional way. Last year IRS had to pay $318 million as refund since it made a mess with the software project.
