After the debacle of torcetrapib (or torcetripib??) Pfizer is now toying with the idea of getting the basic medicinal research and development done from smaller outsourced companies. Is Pfizer playing safe? Notwithstanding the fact that it spends a whopping $7.5 billion in R&D each year, it still wants to go ahead and bank on smaller and more creative and proven drug makers from across the world. The big question here is, unlike basic idea of 'non-core' service outsourcing this one deals with core issues early stage research projects.
