Bacolod City will be an outsourcing hub: City councilor

Success of Bangalore (or Bangaluru) and Gurgaon and smaller cities like Vizag (HSBC resides here) have now become inspiration for cities like Bacolod. The councilor of the city Jocelle Batapa-Sigue wants to make her beloved city a busy outsourcing hub.  So, be it software development, accounting, architectural design, engineering, legal and data transcription, medical, animation, computer graphics, game development and design…she wants all these (and possibly few more which her scriptwriter forgot to mention in the press release or key note) services in her city.

Batapa is hopeful that during the e-Services Philippines global sourcing conference and exhibition, which is to be held next month, the IT Focus Team will bring in more clients.

We are hopeful too.

Bacolod City is a beautiful province!! The move to make this a outsourcing hub will change things dramatically. Residents will either love the change, or hate the change. However, we all know that change is inevitable. A few questions though:

1. What kind of work will the residents want? IT, Financial? Medical? Technical Support?
2. How many residents will be willing to invest in such a career?
3. Are the residents equipped with the necessary skills? Communication? Customer Service? Technological know how?
4. Would it be a better option to consider relocation to a bigger city, such as Manila?
