The Hartford Financial Services Group’s decision of outsourcing data services will make more than 100 workers redundant. It has signed a five year long deal with IBM under which the later will take care of databases, applications, backup, recovery and storage. However, approximately 280 other workers will be offered positions with IBM under the outsourcing contract. These workers will commence operation in April 2007. There are other 110 employees who have not been picked by IBM may be offered some other assignments with Hartford.
Hartford spokeswoman Shannon Lapierre said, "We decided to outsource because we felt our current infrastructure services weren't sufficient to achieve the growth objectives of the company."
So predictable.
