
Property and life insurer Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. publishes report for fourth-quarter profit last week. It is believed that Hartford will do good smooth business because the quarter was free of the catastrophes. No hurricanes like 2005. Weather was mild and everyone happy and lucky.
But not everyone though. Not for those 100 workers who will lose jobs as The Hartford has signed a five year outsourcing contract with IBM. IBM will support and maintain software back office systems and data center equipment for The Hartford. Why this move? The logical answer came from the spokeswoman Shannon Lapierre, "We decided to outsource because we felt our current infrastructure services weren't sufficient to achieve the growth objectives of the company."
