
A new breed of new age entrepreneurs fed up with rising labor cost and other bureaucratic struggle launching new start ups and they simply don’t want to employ employees for their firm. Lisa and Mark Solomon’s ‘The Billable Hour’ focused on wristwatch and greeting card gets a graphic artist from Utah, a watch designer from New York City, a cartoonist from San Diego, website designer and developers from Buffalo.
The trend is gaining momentum and last year number of micro business owners reached astounding 20 million. That’s incredible.
There were 19.5 million in 2004, up 27% from 1997, when the federal government began publishing annual data on non-employer firms. The number of firms with employees rose a far smaller 7.3% during the same period, to 5.9 million.
