After Birmingham City Council's last year's outsourcing deal of £475 million, another big outsourcing local council city outsourcing deal is on the offing. Sandwell Borough Council is all set to sign a £300 million outsourcing contract BT/Liberata partnership for a complete makeover of its IT department. This planned 15 year outsourcing deal will first phase out close to 150 jobs in the first three years itself. It seems the company has avoided some ugly confrontation from the workers and unions as it has transferred 525 council workers to the outsourcing company. What's gain the company is going to achieve from the deal, the spokesperson says, "We are talking about a massive infrastructure upgrade in terms of our systems.
