The Service and Food Workers Union of Air NZ is crying foul and smelling some 'cynical ploy' as its employer Air NZ is about to outsource ground handling services to Swissport. The union feels it's a cynical ploy from Air NZ to extract reductions in terms and conditions from the workers. The workers are dumbfounded with the decision because Air NZ have been posting pretty healthy results for past few years. In 2006 it gathered a profit of $96 million. The number of passengers also increased by many fold and it right sized good portion of its labor costs by employing fewer staff.
