Wondering if a profit making outsourcing business unit becomes a head sore for a company only because it wants to concentrate on its core areas. After much dillydallying (since December that is) UK based United Utilities which operates electricity distribution water works, wastewater and gas networks has confirmed that it has sold off Vertex outsourcing business to a group of private equity firms headed by US based Oak Hill, GenNx360 Capital Partners and Knox Lawrence International. It is believed that the sale deal will be more than 217.5 million pounds. Or should we consider this as a ploy to extract some quick good cash. The deal will be completed by March.
