Is outsourcing merely a regional issue than national concern? Why I am saying this, because it has been felt that in USA outsourcing has hit certain areas while some areas remain largely unscathed. Brookings Institution in its latest study tries to find out (and predict there after based on findings) which part of the nation actually get mostly affected due to offshoring of jobs. The study says that “metro areas in the Northeast and the West are most vulnerable, while those in the Midwest and the South are less so.”
Which areas burnt most because of outsourcing? The study says that on the top lies cities like San Francisco; San Jose, Calif.; Boulder, Colo.; Lowell, Mass.; and Stamford, Conn. These five cities have estimated to lose 3.1% to 4.3% of their total jobs. In the next line comes cities like Dallas, Boston, Minneapolis, Denver, Seattle, and Washington.
