Philippines next outsourcing choice after India

After India (author calling it, king of outsourcing, notwithstanding the thrones as well) its Philippines which is best positioned in Asia to take the second spot. According to an estimate there are at present 266,000 Filipinos employed in several BPO comapnies across the country. The country has scored a roaring 40-45 percent growth in the BPO industry in the last year. And based on the growth curve it is predicted that approximately 800,000 heads will be absorbed by 2010.

What’s more, compared to India, Philippines, in terms of cost is even cheaper than India.

In 2005, the Department of Labor recorded the employment of 132,000 workers in the first half of the said year.

Look at the attached picture, Philippines is so beautiful, Am I heading for the country next summer?

Hi Krissy,

Your blog about the BPO scene in the Philippines is quite informative. I myself am fascinated with this phenomenon since it really is a boon to our economy and in spite of the naysayers criticizing the nature of bpo jobs being generated, it serves as a glimmer of hope for a lot of otherwise would-be unemployed college graduates. With all the negative publicity we've been getting in the international press, its really inspiring to know that some people from other countries don't share the same perception and it should motivate us to strive even more to make our home a better place for future generations. It also serves as an eye opener for other readers who are not as familiar with our country and its capabilities. Incidentally, I've a added few links that might perk up your interest and a little bit of Filipino pop culture to lighten up your day. Enjoy, and I hope good fortune would someday give you a chance to travel to our shores. God bless and best of luck with your career.

The Philippines will be more competitive if instead of just being touted s a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) destination, it will be packaged as a Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) hub.
