To save 300 billion yen Sony considering outsourcing

Sony Corporation, world’s second largest consumer electronics maker is planning to cut spending on the tune of 300 billion yen on development of semiconductors over the next three years. The plan to slash cheap development budget comes as the three-year restructuring plan is expiring. Sony now strategically (or cleverly) is trying to get away with variety of layoffs and some not so core plant’s and business’s closures. The plan comes to an end on March 2008.

Don’t know how pictures like these would portray the brand ‘Sony’ but surprisingly for it nine factories (that’s out of a total of eleven) are facing a closing, some of them already been shut down, and approximately 10,500 people’s job were cut. Sony is considering outsourcing production of the microprocessor.
