
Anglo Australian mining giant BHP Billiton has chosen CSC as its outsourcing partner for a two-year $100 million contract for its application services agreement. No wonder, when the software company gives services to heavyweight mining customers like Woodside and Rio Tinto, it would be an easy task for it too woo a client like BHP. As per the deal, CSC will deliver project specific software development and maintenance supports to BHP Billiton till May, 2009. CSC earlier has delivered comprehensive application and infrastructure support base to BHP from 2K. This seven year long, approximately $700 million outsourcing contract includes the transfer of BHP's IT employees to CSC. This current deal is covering software, however, BHP is yet to broadcast the real winner of its infrastructure outsourcing provider tender.
