Fujitsy Siemens, Europe's biggest standard PC manufacturer having plants in Augsburg and Soemmerda (Germany) already is getting its notebook manufacturing done in China. And now Fujitsu Siemens CEO Bernd Bischoff further plans (broadly to cut costs) to transfer computer production manufacturing base from Germany to Eastern European countries.
Why Eastern Europe instead of China?
The reason: Heavy weights of PCs will escalate transportation costs if done in China. Eastern Europe being near shore will cost less.
CEO however says manufacturing of high value products will remain in Germany along with software development which requires highly qualified workforce.
