National City Corp. will ship certain functions (the number of employees affected is still unknown) of unit National City Mortgage Co., the Dayton (Ohio) Business Journal reported. The spokesperson Kemper did not specify the total number of employees who will be directly or indirectly affected but informed that the number will be less than 50. He also said that the affected employees will be absorbed in some other job functions. National City however will keep its headquarters of its mortgage operation in Miamisburg.

Surely National City Corp will now face the ire of unions and employees, but if you look objectively mortgage companies are on cutback plans for quite some time now, in the last 18 months due to dozing off of mortgage refinancing boom (since low interest were not available) many mortgage companies either reduced employment or sold off some of their operations.
