
Thanks to growing military obligations along with Base Realignment and Closure requirements, DLA's global mission continues to expand the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in a bid to continue its expansion has signed a 10-year, $252 million IT-outsourcing service deal with Accenture, the global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company. The base period for the contract is five years (this is valued at around $155 million) along with one five-year extension option (valuation: $97 million).
As per the contracts of the deal, Accenture will deliver systems engineering, business systems integration and applications management services to DLA for its plethora of enterprise systems. Accenture will also upgrade many a logistics systems of the agency to a single integrated system and will implement commercial but off the shelf software by replacing its original legacy based software systems. The Accenture people working on the project will be located in Columbus, Ohio; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Richmond, Virginia; and Battle Creek, Michigan.
