
Chinese magazine Apple Daily writes that Sony will make a procurement order of US$12 billion to Taiwan companies in 2007. Kenji Sakai, chairman and managing director of Sony (Taiwan) commented that Sony's gross procurement value from the country has grown about 1.5 times during 2006, than 2005. Sony outsources various components for Play Station (PS) series, game consoles, LCD TVs, notebook assembly, LCD panels from Taiwan-based manufacturers.
Sony Corporation has already has overtaken Sharp to become world’s biggest LCD TV makers. Until this fiscal year Sony predicts its sale would see a whopping 60% jump in sales and will be able to sell 10 million units.
