Call center is not investment banking. There is a feeling that call center industry is full of fun, wild partying, endless wines and resource for the cutest chicks and Greek god guys. Since the industry needs young guns out of school and just college pass outs (sometimes drop outs!!!) in hundreds (sometimes in thousands), these perceptions may be sometimes right but call center is mostly about hard and determined work, call center is about making and receiving endless calls, its monotonous too, and top of that you gonna deal with abusive customers also.
Day after day, week after week, you have to make and receive calls and calls and calls under strictest of supervision, under strictest of guidelines, you have to deal with dozens of peers, who not always, not necessarily is supportive to you.
Here everyone works hard to surpass each other to become the best, quality level needs to be always super high, there is very little scope to commit mistakes. You have to complete a call, satisfy a customer, up sell and cross sell in the least time period or else your average handling time (AHT) will go up and other agents will beat you in the race.

On top of that, there are erratic shift timings, sometimes evening (3 afternoon-11 night), sometimes graveyard (12 night-8 morning), sometimes day, call center is not an easy place to be, call center is a difficult place to live and rise.
If you want to join call center because you love partying, don't. If you want to join call center because the food is great, don't, if you want to join call center, because the chicks are great, don't. Believe you me, the girl or the guy you are eying for last couple of weeks may turn out to be your greatest enemy in the workplace. Forget other reasons; even work pressure and competition amongst the group members can act as spoilsports.
Join only if you are determined to do hard work even at the most difficult scenario, join if you are able to pass a smile to a colleague even if you hate him/her the most. Call center is about physical guts and mental strength. It's not for weak and hopelessly romantic people.
