This outsourcing goes one step deeper or should I say more into grass root level. If till now outsourcing is explored more on selling services to business, this one aims to create a direct American consumer play plugged in from India. This trend is called, 'homework outsourcing.' Lot of people laughed at the idea first, but its 45 year old Krishnan Ganesh, the founder and chairman of TutorVista is laughing all the way to the bank. His proposition is so robust that he has completed getting second round of investment (a cool $11 million) from blue chip venture funds like Lightspeed Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital India.
Hmm…must say a groundbreaking idea. Its told that in USA some tutors charge around $40-$60 per hour, whereas TutorVista is only charging $100 for unlimited tutoring.
My only doubt is that, ok, offshore teachers may tackle universal subjects like science and maths but will they be able to give guidance on issues which differ from culture to culture, like dramatics, history, fiction, contemporary poetry, social science etc.

I've come across a number of online tutoring websites (e.g. tutor.com, homeworkhelp.com, tutoreasy.com, www.schooltrainer.com, etc.). Has anyone prepared a comparison of the various companies (pricing, quality, etc.)?
