Clinical outsourcing till now broadly happens at the first stage only, for more critical second and third phase that is drug development etc. the process is done in-house. That’s the finding of the survey done by Cutting Edge. But that does not mean all the clinical outsourcing works come back to in-house. In fact, the divide is I would say pretty lean. The survey has found out that compared to 54.6% in the first phase, 47.3% staff allocation is outsourced in the later phase. One of the reasons, as it was seen, small biotech firms normally do not have requisite resources to get the trial done in-house.
No wonder, early phase of clinical trial is appearing is one of the lucrative markets in the horizon. Vendor fees are also jumping up by leaps and dozens.
