
IBM may have sent more than $6 billion worth of outsourcing work to India, but to woo and win state government business it is also going to employ more than 1000 with its partners in Daleville and in Indianapolis. IBM and its partners under an exchange program will create these jobs (of them 500 exclusively goes to Daleville) wherein they will modernize the computers that powers the state’s welfare eligibility system. IBM will also upgrade the supercomputer at Indiana University. It is also in talks with Purdue University for a technology design center.
The call center initially gets 200 workers and then in phase it will add additional 300 by 2010. IBM got a good deal from the Daleville and Delaware counties. They have given IBM a package of incentives, which is worth $419,000. IBM presently employs more than 1000 employees in Indiana.
