A wonderful article written by Arijit Sengupta about the secret weapons the Chinese BPO industry is having. This blog post is dedicated to that article.
1. India has become complacent with its success. Much like the way British once dominated motorcycle industry, who did not consider Japan as a threat. But Japanese motorcycle companies dislodged them with passing time.
2. China is taking serious measures to outdo India. It's offering packages of incentives to allure Industry leaders or should I say the biggies who are followed by not so biggies.
3. In its 6th five year plan China plans to build integrated state-of-the art service outsourcing bases in 10 of its biggest cities.
4. Once the infrastructure is ready China plans to go for out and out marketing strategy and intends to encourage best of 100 multinationals to outsource service from China. 1,000 second rung large and medium sized companies are expected to follow.
5. When India is increasing taxes on BPO and outsourcing, China will introduce major tax incentives.
6. Indian companies, a section of industry feels that, are not keen to imbibe latest technology. Since the labor is cheap, in lieu of spending on technology they get the work done manually. That is not a long term solution.
7. Barring the top level IT and outsourcing players, the lower rung companies are not perceived as the best practice followers in India.
8. "Global Outsourcing Report 2007" states that India which is now at no.1 position in outsourcing and IT offshoring will be displaced by China which now stands at no. 2.
9. Witnessing a 15% escalation in expenditure over year to year, British Telecom has moved lot of processes behind the Great Wall from India.
Well, before you start hating me for pro-China article, let me tell you that very soon I will be coming up with a story where I will tell you in not less than ten pionts why India is way ahead of China in outsourcing and will always remian so.
Writers...yes, you got that right... can not be loyal to any one. Other than you, beautiful.....free this weekend??
