So, you have decided that you will work in call center and make a promising career out of it. When everyone is doing great, why not you? But before you go out and face the call center interview board let me tell you in the first part of this series, the mistakes people do while giving interview for call center. There are lots of them, which also depend from person to person, broadly I have listed down the most common call center interview mistakes the guys and girls do universally, whether he is from New York or New Delhi, Mumbai or Manchester, Bangalore or Beijing.
The best way to avoid call center interview mistakes is plan ahead and decide not to make those mistakes,
1. Do not dress grossly: Remember this is not American Idol or MTV Roadies. Though call center is a fun place to work and its a young industry you should not drop at the interview with torn jeans and faded half sleeve.
2. Do not LIE: Mark Twain once said: "If you tell the truth, you never have to remember anything." Telling lie is like you yourself is entangling yourself in complexity. Be as true as you are.
3. Do not be over smart: To show that you are cool and super smart do not crack jokes on potentially sensitive topics.
4. Do not complain: Do not complain about anything. Be it how your boyfriend/girlfriend ditched you or how you hate the winter season or how the tailbacks on the motorway are endless or how much you hate Paris Hilton. It shows negative energy.
5. Do not talk bad about your colleague: Call centers understand the power of interpersonal relationship in the workplace. If they ask you how well you gelled with your co-workers do not assassinate their character.
6. Do not be less prepared: Know about the company from friends or other sources. Read the job ad that comes on the morning newspaper in detail. It may later come out that they are actually looking for persons with different personality traits.
7. Do not be too nervous, or too confident: Both can destroy your chance of getting hired. I understand, but sometimes its really difficult to be at your normal best. I have nothing to say for those who are over confident. But you are nervous, tell yourself that this is not the end of the world and the interviewer is not your enemy, he wont snatch money from you, he wont bully you, he wont be cruel to you either. Just be normal
