Indians are now doing high end BPO work which is called KPO. Indian firms are taking up jobs in the field of finance, law and health. On healthcare, typical works like patent research can be done pretty cheaply in India.
A CEO from one knowledge processing center in Chennai said that compared to US$80 an hour a high end work like patent research can be done in India for mere US$50. Among other things that drives the outsourcing boom is huge cost savings and western companies are getting the best of it. The salaries in call center may be rising but still they are way below than Western wages.
