Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is considering to outsource production of its microprocessor. For the world’s second biggest manufacturer of central processing units (CPUs) for personal computers it’s a ploy to save on fabrication technology development expenditure.
Please don’t AMD for the decision, after all they are only consulted by one of the premier consulting names, Goldman Saschs. AMD management however, does not want to show that they are blindly obedient to paid consultation. AMD officially has said that proposition is only speculative. AMD spokesman Drew Prarie said that company’s bulls eye is on developing chips instead of manufacturing them and thus make bottomline fat free.
