An interesting article came out in Times of India, on whether HIV test should be made mandatory for BPO and call center in India.
The reported moves to begin HIV testing in the call centres have brought the focus back on the 'culture and lifestyle' of BPOs.
Whether or not the BPO industry is a hotbed of sin, it certainly is a hotbed of controversy. Recent news reports that said that some BPOs are considering HIV testing for their employees have created ripples in the sector and outside. Is the proposal because of a certain perception of 'BPO culture and lifestyle'? Is HIV testing discriminatory? And what will be the consequences of such a move? We spoke to a cross section of people involved in the issue to figure out why it is the BPO industry that needs aid(s) for HIV testing.
Must say some people are making hill out of mole. Why BPO, in every other sector employees need to go through a medical test whie joining. And normally that medical test along with other mandatory disease also checks the STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) and HIV status. So, what’s the big deal? Simply journalism at its sensational best
