Hmm….pressed with tight deadlines to meet in-house HR departments are now seeking help from recruitment firms to headhunt for lower and entry level workers. They may do tasks like sifting eligible candidates from the database, do background checks and conduct first round of job interviews. In a way, for these recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) firms, it’s a sign of prosperity.
Firstly because, they are extending from headhunting executive level workers to lower level workers and secondly, they are not limited to functions like processing pay checks and other transaction related service.
The scope seems big, as the companies are getting desperate for clients along with local smaller players global names like IBM and Accenture also have joined into the bandwagon for some extra hay.
According to research firm Gartner, the RPO business was worth $1.2 billion in 2006 and is growing about 8.6 per cent a year. Some outsourcers, however, are seeing much faster growth. At staffing firm Spherion, the RPO business has tripled in the last 18 months and now tops $50 million annually.
