
Not India, but growth of China and Malaysia in the BPO space are worry point for Philippines. According to NASSCOM China's BPO industry is worth $1.06 billion for 2006. Malaysia's BPO market, on the other hand as per IDC report has posted $1.01 billion in total revenues in last fiscal.
In comparison, the Philippine outsourcing industry has garnered around $3 billion in revenues. Market analyst McKinsey and Company has predicted Philippine BPO revenues will grow to $12 billion by 2010. That’s an astounding figure. Can you believe this? $12 billion…
Still there are some who feel [here] that market is not growing as fast as it should be.
Gerry Clark, Southeast Asia head for BPO consulting firm TPI, however, believes the market is not growing as fast as analysts' forecasts.
Clark pointed out that most outsourced service providers already have a global delivery network in place. Thus, he cited the need for the Philippines to gain competitive advantage through process maturity and innovation.
