Can giagntic China be able to beat India in the outsourcing race? Agreed, they don’t have enough Englsih speaking people, but the domestic market is simply huge, there is no one in the world who would not like to tap the market. China over the years also have successfully proven its mettle in outsourcing delivering results for Korea and Japan. So they are not alien to the concept.
But India is not worrying about China, it seems. This is what Kiran Karnik, President, president of India's National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) thinks. Excerpts from a recent interview...
"When I look in the rear view mirror, I don't see anyone there yet, but I know they are out there and they can move very fast ... China must not be ignored…While India continues to be the most favored destination by far" for global business process outsourcing…we need to ensure we maintain this position in the years to come. This will require a favorable policy and tax environment, a huge thrust in education and human resources and vastly better infrastructure. We know China is moving ahead very rapidly systematic and planned approach to rapidly developing key sectors of its economy. They are learning English at breakneck speed.
