
Proped up by a robust market for RF components which are used in high-end wireless applications along with a new deal with key customer Anadigics, epiwafer supplier IQE has posted an operating profit and a sharp increase in sales.

Epitaxial wafer maker IQE has won an outsourcing contract from Anadigics that the firm says is worth $50m over the first two years.
IQE will supply GaAs epi wafers to Anadigics, which makes wireless chips for 3G, WiFi, WiMAX, broadband and set-top box applications. Drew Nelson, IQE’s chief executive said: “We have been working very closely with Anadigics over the last two years, to support their rapid growth plans.” He added that IQE won the contract by being able to offer multi site and volume capacity production.
