Call center is such a labor intensive industry, in Philippines, in India you will get to see everyday people are thronging into call centers, placement houses for interviews. In big cities there are job fairs, full page recruitment ads, billboard hoarding, what not, craze is abysmal. But ask the HR personnels, they will tell you how difficult it is to get right person for the right process.
Once I asked a good friend of mine who is a HR manager in Genpact (a GE sister concern) how do you find people? He told me that, broadly (may differ from company to company) they select candidates from:
1.Employee referrals (84%)
2.Online recruitment (external)(58%)
3.Online recruitment (Company web site)--73%
4.Print ad in local newspaper-65%
5.Employment agencies-48%
6.Job fairs-23%
So, guys and girls, if you are eying a call center for last six months and dropped your CV in its website and have even spoken with couple of job hunters, its time you be friends with some one who is working right out there in the center. Because the stat says 84% recruitment is held through employee referrals.
