Amit Paul or Prsahnt Tamang, who will win Indian Idol today? An unprecedented euphoria can be seen over these two Indian Idol 3 finalists, not only in India but also in the neighboring country, Nepal. People are going crazy and voting through phones and text messages (sms) to make sure that their favorite contestant wins the title in Indian Idol, a legitimate take of American Idol.
The craze has reached to such an extent that affluent businessmen from Kathmandu (Nepal) are outsourcing agents from India to vote for their favorite hero. It is reported in media that there are not enough phone booths in Nepal for the purpose. Also, I am not sure, its due to some technical problems also.

Prashant Tamang and Amit Paul both hail from north eastern part of India. Mostly because of these two lads the season 3 has become a huge success in television, TRP (television rating point) scored a super high with more than 77 million viewers sampling the show.
24 year old Amit is from Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, one of the states from India.
This is what Amith Paul's mother told media persons yesterday,
I am extremely happy for my son. I am happy because all the other contestants like him so much. This is all because of everybody’s good wishes...Amit don't worry you have our support and love. You will definitely be able to become the Indian Idol. Don’t worry just sing well. Source
Prashant Tamang is from Tungsung, Darjeeling. He is the first guy from Indian Police Force (IPF) to go such far. His workplace is Calcutta (Kolkata). He is also the first Indian Nepalese contestant. Prashant joined the force after his father while serving IPF died in an accident.

Local politicians feel that Prashant Tamang has united the Hills and are presenting him as an icon of “the true Gorkha”.
“Prashant has broken the stereotype ‘soldier’ image of Gorkhas,” said Bimal Gurung, a Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) leader.
