During a question/answer session with Democratic Senator John Kerry at University of Florida, police forcibly removed twenty one year chap Andrew Mayer on the charges of "resisting an officer and disturbing the peace"- according to Alachua County jail records.
I wont question why freedom of expression has to be stopped in such a fashion, I wont look suspiciously into a lot of contents on blog, websites and possibly on newspapers/magazines which smell a lot like paid stuff from some political party and seems like padding up things. What agenda the journalism student, Andrew Mayer, was carrying in his mind, I don't want to even know that.
I am just wondering what if they handled the situation non-violently.
In call centers when irate customers made calls and start doing bla bla, angrily, non stop, top of his/her voice, what do the agents, plugging headphones in their ears, do?? They simply listen. Nope, empathy comes later, that the broadband speed is low, telephone bill is illicitly up etc. Answering that comes later. First, the agents hear out the whole story. Without acting as antagonists they simply listen to the caller for umpteenth minute.
Imagine John Kerry hearing out the chap, with a smile in his face. While tilting up and down his head he is hearing him out. Imagine the police in slow motion encircles Andrew Mayer, they did not touch him. They are ready and alert lest he takes out a knife or revolver from his pocket. Imagine, Andrew Mayer doling out poisons, Andrew Mayer is blabbering for 5-10-15 minutes, Andrew Mayer is panting, he is over. John Kerry looking at his wristwatch, he is late, John Kerry (or his secretary) asks Andrew Mayer his email id or phone number and promised him that he would get back to him ASAP.
Imagine.
