This deal will directly affect as many as 50 50 Hess IT employees, some of them will have to go while some will be shifted to IBM.
Hess Corp has been managing its in-house IT operations for quite some time but now as the organization is growing it demands more from its in-house IT department, which the management feels will be difficult to manage. So, for an efficient 24/7 operation service offering as well as to meet the needs of increasing mobile workforce (and to also to be at par with global players) Hess has decided going IBM way.
Who else have competed for the contract?
IBM will take care of Hess Corp's hardware support which will include desktop and server services. Some services will be managed at Hess campus while some others at IBM.
Hess will keep on maintaining its application support and development in-house.
