Fifty years ago, a Thursday like this saw Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1 which could do little more than 'beep beep' as it circled the earth. Russians made it to the US psyche with Sputnik, they had this satellite which looked down on US and crossing its skies every 98 minutes. What's more it carried a powerful rocket that could presumably carry a nuclear overhead over United States of America's borders.

United States hurriedly developed intercontinental missiles and defenses against Russians (Sputnik). In 1961 preparation to landing in moon started and allegedly realized in 1969. Without Sputnik landing in moon would have delayed.

Every famous brand enjoys some values in the market, when one less strong brand (here, Russia) launches a product innovation or something like that, its rest assured that the bigger ones (here USA) will jump in with more vengeance. Life does not remain honeymoon smooth anymore, from the R&D guys to front line sales people to agenda setters. New improved product innovation thus follows on and on.
