Outsourcing is reaching Africa. Africa, has become a new outsourcing frontier. More than increased employment and additional revenue, Africa while embracing outsourcing can have many positive spin offs. English is strong in Africa, talent pool is cheap, political supports are also available.
Africa is aggressively marketing its case to the rest of the world.
This report says,
Datamonitor, a consulting firm that follows outsourcing, estimates that there are 54,000 call-center jobs in the most advanced countries in Africa, out of a total of 6 million such jobs worldwide. But the 54,000 figure only includes South Africa and the countries of North Africa, not emerging call centers in places like Ghana and Kenya.
ITC, an agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, has been working to promote trade in services as an engine for growth and greater economic integration in Africa. Link
