Since call center is a labor intensive industry, HR managers before inviting the candidate onto the campus try to figure out whether the candidate’s skills matches up to the profile or not. Telephonic interview is also a useful tool to chaff out candidates when vacancies are more and positions are few. Phone interviews are also used to short listing candidates in order to zero in onto the pool of applicants who will be finally invited for in-person interviews.
What should you do when you receive a call from a HR person?
If call has been scheduled, you should make your points clear about what you will talk about and what not. But if the call arrives without any notice, you first should head off to a quiet place, and concentrate your focus from your friends or family to entirely to the call. If you don’t get the HR person’s name at the first go, don’t hesitate to ask his/her name again (its better because then you can talk to her more comfortably). Its better you ask for half a minute’s time from the interviewer and write down his/her name, phone numbers, the company he/she is calling from and the HR/recruit firm he/she is representing.
