Following its merger with MyTravel, travel agency Thomas Cook has inked a 10 year long outsourcing contract with Accenture. For Thomas Cook, Accenture will manage SAP system plus the network services. The deal covers business processes, infrastructure, management of application for finance, human resources and accounting divisions. The deal is worth £192 million.
Its not a brand new contract actually. It was originally signed way back in 2002 by MyTravel. Now that MyTravel has been acquired by Thomas Cook, it may be considered as continuation of the contract.
Announced today, the deal is a continuation of a 2002 arrangement that will now be aimed at integrating MyTravel operations into Thomas Cook's own framework after the two firms merged in June this year.
Commenting on the IT outsourcing deal, Manny Fontenla-Novoa, joint chief executive of Thomas Cook, said the travel agent was "delighted" to extend the 2002 arrangement.
