Supposedly Asia’s largest ship-breaking yard, Alang may probably consider a proposal to outsource the asbestos removal process to a specialized agency, If this happens hundreds of labourers in this ship graveyard may be saved from the hazards of asbestosis, reports Times of India.
Nikhil Gupta, joint secretary, Ship Re-cyclers Association of India (SRIA) says:
We are trying to tie-up with two or three companies and outsource the asbestos removal process completely… Alang can re-establish itself as an environmentally safe dismantling facility by taking help of professional people to remove asbestos.
