That’s a startling revelation. According to a survey undertaken by Fortune, nearly 3 in 5 Americans being surveyed said they were "less likely to buy a product if it is made in China." However, they are not that averse to the products being manufactured and made by India.
Fortune magazine has surveyed approximately 1,000 adults across America between January 14-16, said "where a product is manufactured does not impact Americans' purchasing decisions except when that product is made in China. Nearly three-in-five (57 per cent) Americans are less likely to buy a product if it is
made in China. When products are manufactured in other areas, such as Eastern Europe (57 per cent), Western Europe (55 per cent), Canada (53 per cent), India (52 per cent), Africa (51 per cent), Mexico (48 per cent), Japan (47 per cent), and South Korea (46 per cent), nearly a majority say it does not matter."
The survey has taken into account factors like effects on personal spending, the state of the economy, international trade, employment and which political party would do a better job of addressing these issues.
