In healthcare knowledge processes, a coder should be certified by the American Association of Professional Coder (AAPC) and to get into a good organization he or she should posses approximate four year experience. I am sure for deserving candidates this limit could be reduced. After all there is always a scarcity for good resource in the industry. A certified coder has to be really careful while doing coding for patient records. The coder works on patient diseases and determines the codes to be followed for patient disease processes. Utmost attention should

be paid to quality so to receive the reimbursement from the insurance company or TPA for the service offered by the physician.
Industry needs KPO medical coders who are experienced in CPT, ICD - 9 coding, Insurance / TPA and Government regulations requirement, they should also have some knowledge of software like CODERITTE, ENCODERPRO and HCPCS.
