2008 will see bigger player gobbling up smaller competitors. Mid sized players like ACS, Perot Systems and others could not able to attain the 30% growth of global providers and as per a study by NeoIT, an outsourcing consulting firm, firms like these may become acquisition target for giant providers like IBM or EDS.
Wipro got lot of media coverage for its acquisition of Infocrossing, a US based infrastructure service provider, but it was certainly Infosys’ alleged take over of Cap Gemini that took everyone to surprise. However, it seems in 2008, US and global heavyweight IT and outsourcing providers will hog all the limelight for their powerhouse acquisitions of small to medium generic and specialized firms.
