Pune, the neighbor city of
Mumbai, in the western part of
India, it seems is fast becoming a serious rival to
Bangalore, India’s most prominent IT and software hub.
Pune has been at the center of crème da la crème IT activity in India for last few years, and recently it has only has increased by manifold. The city crossed $1 billion in software export in 2005 compared to Bangalore which crossed $6 in the same
year. Though I don’t have ready data with me, but looking at the endless new office buildings which sprung up in the last few years, it can be clearly apprehended that the gap ratio has lessened.
