India’s largest software export company TCS plans a 1.5 per cent cut in the salaries of its over one hundred thousand employees in the fourth quarter, as the company fell short of certain financial targets. What is the target, we don’t know (Anyone??)….did the employees get to know about it before…I am not sure….one fine morning they got the news that the salary will be slashed (I may be wrong, please comment below with your input).

At present, TCS is offering a two tier pay package which consists of 70 per cent fixed and 30 per cent variable pay. The variable constitutes of two components -- company and individual performance.

It is believed that TCS’ Economic Value Added (EVA) performance for the third quarter fall short of the target, which has bound the company to slash salaries, this is what came from the TCS General Manager (Corporate Communications) Pradipta Bagchi.
