TCS wage cut: What people are saying
On TCS salary cut I wrote this (click here) and while searching I stumble on Rediff discussion board and got some really well ideated interesting thoughts. Recouping best three…..(posted till now, more coming anyway, get a look of the discussion board here)

Shameless management by Samsung

First of all sack all the senior management of TCS. They make loud statements on NDTV Profit and CNBC of the continued growth of the organization and then screw the employees with salary cuts stating that profits are lower thatn internal targets. What is the target. No one knows. One fine day, they will say - target not met, cut salaries. Why not cut down on the travel and entertainment that these senior managers and their spouses "enjoy" at company's cost. Or theTCS-salary-cut-wage freebies that they give to clients in the name of relationship building and account growth. There are so many wastages in the organization which ultimately lead to lower profits and in the end the poor employee suffers. I reiterate again - throw out the entire senior management and bring in new management which has the necessary drive and attitude to steady this ship

We are not disappointed with TCS's Salary Cutting Decision - actually its not a salary cut by Manzoor Murshed

I could not find a suitable reason to be disappointed with the decrease in variable payment. To clarify this %u2013 Variable component of salary is totally dependant on the profit earned by a company. Companies like Wipro, Infosys and Accenture also do not guarantee 100% variable payout. There are few factors which have impacted profitability %u2013 Rupee appreciation is one among them. Companies like TCS are not fully dependant on US economy. Agreed, that sizable revenue comes from US business but European, APAC and domestic economy business provides sustainable revenue.

Tech companies did nothing innovative by by Surag Singh

Have our IT and BPO companies done anything to build a positive brand image with the people of America?

IBM organized the famous Deep Blue versus chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov face off, Amazon sponsors online short film festivals, Apple designs iconic products like the iPod. Sun Microsystems holds an 'in-world' press conference to show off its new pavilion in Second Life, the popular 3D online world. The list is endless.

Now name any consumer initiative from Indian tech companies?

Can you think of any breakthrough recruitment advertising even in India?

Do Indian technology companies come across as innovators?

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind.

Is it any wonder then that Indians are seen as %u201Cjob stealers%u201D and %u201Ccyber coolies%u201D?

If our vaunted tech companies continue with their current staid ads and investor PR events, then not only will they face the ire of jobless Americans, but will also implode from within due to high attrition rates and lack of people who understand Web 2.0.
