In Japanese, Gembutsu means the “real thing.” In line with the same spirit, Gembutsu Consulting is also perceived to be the ‘real’ lean manufacturing consultants that attain superior manufacturing excellence by implementing the tools and philosophy of the Toyota Production System (TPS). Gembutsu offers lean consulting through the Kaizen approach (i.e. implementing process changes through small increments or continuous improvement), and identifies waste by forcing production problems to the surface so that they become visible for everyone to see. Once identified, such problems are solved with worker consensus.
The idea is to reach as close to the problem as possible meticulously for lean manufacturing processes before proposing a solution. In true six-sigma like approach, the actual process or problem is being observed at the actual place (for example, on the shop floor of the factory) where it has taken place. All authentic data is thus obtained for a comprehensive fault free solution.
